Welcome to Andrew Drakeley - Liverpool Gynaecologist
Andrew Drakeley is a Liverpool born and educated Consultant Gynaecologist working at the Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust. His specialist skills include male and female infertility, laparoscopic surgery and menstrual disorders. Privately he consults at the Liverpool Women's Catharine Suite, North West Fertiliy, Spire Liverpool (Lourdes) and the Abbey Sefton Hospital.
Professional Background
Andrew Drakeley was educated at Sudley and then Liverpool Blue Coat School and graduated from Liverpool University in 1994, choosing to specialise in Obstetrics & Gynaecology. In 1996, Andrew undertook a research post investigating recurrent pregnancy loss and the menopause, being awarded his MD doctorate in 2004. In 1997, he worked for 6 months at Coronation Hospital, Johannesburg and then for 8 months at Groote Schuur Hospital, Cape Town, South Africa as an Obstetric & Gynaecology Registrar. Andrew returned to the Mersey Obstetrics & Gynaecology rotation in 1998 completing his MRCOG specialty qualification in 1999.
From 2002 to 2005, Andrew worked as a Subspecialty Fellow at the Hewitt Centre for Reproductive Medicine, Liverpool, including sabbaticals to Sydney & Melbourne, Australia to increase his expertise in laparoscopic surgery & assisted conception. Andrew was also elected to represent trainee doctors to the Councils of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists and the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges. He is an invited referee for the British Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Human Reproduction, the Lancet & the British Medical Journal.
He is a reviewer and co-author for the Cochrane review Groups of Pregnancy & Childbirth and Menstrual Disorders and Subfertility, and has delivered over 50 lectures and published widely.
